+1.
I guess it was a nice gimmick when the race was new. Now, we're established as one of the really fine, mid-sized marathons in the country. Why should the medal be a joke?
I do NOT feel really strongly about this. I don't think it's all that important. I just agree with the OP.

Not to change the subject, I was really proud of the City yesterday. What a great event!

Make it bigger - I get more comments from other marathoners wondering "What are they going to do next year?" And the comments from non marathoners is "let me see your medal". I can only imagine the ones from around the country take their medal back home and actually show it off around the work place.

Of course, in ten or more years - there may be a problem.

It's not the size of the medal ..... it's what you do with it! Just tuck it in the drawer somewhere and start training for the next event. Those "medal shrines" sometimes get in the way of what's really important. Yesterday's runs are gone. Run forward .... don't look back!

I commented to my wife that this thing would make a great murder weapon. Not in real life, just in a cheesy mystery novel. I'd hate to have it dropped on my foot.

I like it!!! Folks are amazed and my co-workers said the same thing about using it as a weapon. I have ALL 7 of my medals, proudly displayed at work. I get lots of compliments and sometimes even people who would like to start running.

It would be nice instead of making it bigger, Have it show some of the landmarks in Little Rock such as theh Governors mantion, The State Capitol, The River Market, The Big Dam BridgeCentral High School, The Bill Clinton Library to name a few. We could have a whole series on this theme.

I like this idea. It really has gotten too big. People could collect the themes, and they could do the marathon around the themes. I know this years theme is 'natural' I think. Don't get why the logo is pink, makes the think the race is for women. Than again there are several things regarding the race I don't get!

.Yup, I agree with you, good idea, I have several on my study wall, and they ALWAYS get good remarks, to the person that started this thing off, simple, if you dont like the medal, dont run. Me.I travel 9.000 miles plus, costs me several thousand dollars, all this just to run 26 miles, but I wouldnt swap it for a pension. Be well people. Love you all. The Ancient Brit.

I'm fine with it getting bigger and bigger, reminds me of my hair. The one comment I get when I'm out of state doing a race and the Little Rock Marathon comes up is: "Do they still have the Pink medal for the women finishers?" Apparently, there were some women who came from Texas just to get a pink medal.
